07.06.08 Dear Supporters and Friends, Happy Independence Day Weekend! The ideals laid out in the Declaration of Independence would take years to win, and centuries to perfect. But one of the many miracles of this country is that no matter when our ancestors came here, even if we ourselves came here, the story of the Revolution is our own. We all celebrate it together, as Americans. I was lucky enough to spend Independence Day at Washington Park and at Four Mile Run Historic Park celebrations, and then taking in the Cherry Creek Arts Festival. One of the fun parts of the campaign is stopping door-to-door, introducing myself to voters and hearing their concerns and hopes for the upcoming election. But I still have time to drop in on great, Republican gatherings like the Denver First Thursday Breakfast featuring Terry Anderson, and today's J-GOP Barbecue. The upcoming weeks present an even more exciting schedule. On Tuesday, July 8th, the HD-6 Republicans will host a Candidates Forum, when both my opponent and I will meet, address voters, and answer their questions. The forum will be at the Central Christian Church, at 3690 Cherry Creek South, at 6:30 PM. On July 17th, the Jewish Republicans will also host a Candidates Forum, at the East Side Kosher Deli, at S. Elm St. and E. Virginia Ave., also at 6:30 PM. On July 20th, Loyd and Jenny Pearcy will be hosting a Meet-the-Candidate reception at their home, which is really a Meet-the-Voter event for me. We're actively planning a number of other such receptions, and I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible during the course of this exciting campaign, and into the fall and the general election. Finally, I'd like to close by calling your attention to a new endorsement I was given this weekend by Dr. M. Zuhdi Jasser, M.D., prominent internist, former U.S. Navy Lieutenant Commander, and renown columnist/commentator on Islamist affairs.
