Happy Thanksgiving!
In the midst of political rough-and-tumble, it’s easy to forget how much we have to be thankful for in this great country of ours, and in our beautiful state of Colorado. While our economic times are tough, we have seen worse, and this too shall pass. Most of us still pass our lives in comfort that would have been unimaginable even a century ago.
Of course, our material comforts are the least of it. We live in a land of unparallelled freedom and opportunity, where people of all faiths live as equal citizens. And while some of us, for the first time, believe those freedoms to be in serious danger, their proper and vigorous exercise is their own best defense.
As Warren Buffet put it, to be an American citizen is to have held the winning tickets in life’s lottery. Let’s give thanks for our good fortune, and for the opportunity to help others around the world secure it for themselves, as well.

Today is Veterans’ Day. What began as Armistice Day after the end of World War I has become so much more over the last 90 years. With every engagement, every mission, our soliders who acquit themselves honorably leave a legacy greater than themselves. They are living proof that noble means magnify noble ends.
While Memorial Day is for those who gave their lives, Veterans’ Day is for those who are still with us. So today of all days, thank a veteran or an active duty soldier for their contribution to our freedoms.
